Mayor Ernst presided over the session and called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. with the following members present: Rupert, Barger, Fineran, Carnine, and Cates. Motion by Council Member Fineran to approve the agenda, second by Council Member Rupert. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Rupert to send a letter to Jeannie Schrader requesting she inform the City of any dealings between her and McGuire regarding her building, and prior to any decision or action regarding the building it must be approved by the City Council and or appropriate committee, second by Council Member Cates. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Cates to approve the consent agenda, second by Council Member Carnine. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Rupert to appoint Edie Ball as City Clerk for 2009, second by Council Member Bargar. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Fineran to appoint Jim Meier as Fire Chief for 2009, second by Council Member Carnine. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Fineran to approve the 2009 Standing Committees, second by Council Member Carnine. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Carnine to amend Ordinance 525 amending Title I, Chapter 4, Article 2, Section 1-4.0201-2 appointing the Deputy Clerk as City Treasurer, second by Council Member Cates. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Fineran to waive the second and third readings of Ordinance 525 amending Title I, Chapter 4, Article 2, Section 1-4.0201-2 appointing the Deputy Clerk as City Treasurer, second by Council Member Carnine. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Rupert to appoint Connie Pfleeger, Deputy Clerk, as City Treasurer, second by Council Member Fineran. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Carnine to approve Ordinance 526 revising Title II, Division 3, Chapter 1, Article Four (2.3-1.04) to include owners and responsible person, second by Council Member Fineran. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Fineran to waive the second and third readings of Ordinance 526 revising Title II, Division 3, Chapter 1, Article Four (2.3-1.04) on owners and responsible person, second by Council Member Carnine. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Fineran to have law enforcement deliver separate notices to each trustee of the Baxter Hotel, second by Council Member Bargar. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
Motion by Carnine to approve purchasing from The Office Stop a HP laser printer (PTHP4015TN) and a color inkjet HP (HEWCC975A) for $2,209.00, second by Council Member Rupert. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Carnine to appoint Shirley Hayes of Ida Grove to the Library Board of Trustees to replace Sandy Boerner, who resigned, second by Council Member Cates. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Bargar to approve Resolution 2009-1 Naming the Official Newspaper as the Ida County Courier, second by Council Member Fineran. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Cates to approve Resolution 2009-2 Naming Depositories United Bank of Iowa and First State Bank, second by Council Member Fineran. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Carnine to approve Resolution 2009-3 supporting the definition of traditional marriage between a man and a woman, second by Council Member Fineran. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Rupert to adjourn the meeting, second by Council Member Cates. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
