The City Council of the City of Ida Grove met in regular session in the Council Chambers at 6:00 p.m. Mayor Dennis R. Ernst presiding. Councilmembers present: William Carnine, Robert Fineran, Craig Rupert, Paul Cates. Council members absent: Paul Bargar. Guests in attendance: Mark Nielsen, Beth Wolterman

Moved to approve the agenda as presented.

Approved unanimously.

The City Clerk presented two requests for sponsorship of the Ida County Community Betterment Grant. that had been brought into City Hall. The Rec Center is requesting $7,836.00 for installing a new infield at Cobb Park’s ball field. The Ida Grove Library is requesting $10,000 for assistance with the library addition.

Moved to approve sponsorship for the two grant applications.

Approved unanimously.

Moved to approve the consent agenda as presented.

Mayor Ernst presented the subject of snow parking for the City of Ida Grove. Mark Nielsen reported the City Crew has plowed the streets twenty times this year from December 6, 2007 through today compared to eight times a year ago. The City Council decided to make no changes at this time.

Mayor Ernst presented the subject of sidewalks in Ida Grove not being shoveled by citizens. The City Council discussed possibilities to prompt better sidewalk snow removal.

Moved to purchase a digital camera for the City Crew to take pictures of sidewalks not being shoveled and to have the City Clerk create a violation form, then the form and picture be submitted to the Ida County Sheriff’s Office for processing.

Approved unanimously.

The City Clerk presented information on updating the accounting software. Quotes were obtained from Tyler Technologies for $35,323 and from Data Tech for $20,150.

Moved to accept the bid from Data Tech.

Approved unanimously.

The City Clerk presented the final draft of the 2008-2009 Budget Book.

Moved to approve the final draft of the 2008-2009 Budget Book.

Approved unanimously.

Mayor Ernst presented the subject of setting a Public Hearing for the 2008-2009 Budget.

Moved to hold the Public Hearing on March 3, 2008 at 6:00 p.m.

Approved unanimously.

Moved to adjourn subject to the call of the Mayor.
