Mayor Ernst presided over the session and called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. with the following members present: Fineran, Bargar, Carnine, Rupert and Cates.
Mayor Ernst opened the Public Hearing on the FY2010 Budget and began the Regular Session. Motion by Council Member Fineran to approve the amended agenda with the addition of Moorehead Bridge, Clerk School and the City of Battle Creek letter regarding the Battle Creek attendance center, second by Council Member Carnine. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Cates to increase the Rec Center coverage to $2,257,372, second by Council Member Rupert. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
Mayor Ernst asked for any comments on the FY2010 budget and there were none. Motion by Council Member Rupert to approve the FY2010 budget, second by Council Member Fineran. On a unanimous vote motion carried. Mayor Ernst closed the public session.
Motion by Carnine to approve the consent agenda, second by Council Member Bargar. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Carnine to begin the process of municipal fines on the trustees of the Baxter Hotel, Jerome and Lorraine Pape, second by Council Member Fineran. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Rupert to donate the vacant cemetery plot back to the Ida Grove Cemetery, second by Council Member Carnine. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
The City Council requested an ad for summer mowing bids be done for review at the April meeting.
Motion by Council Member Carnine to approve purchasing Stihl Chainsaw MS 361 C-Q for $609.99, second by Council Member Rupert. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Carnine to accept the 2008 Audit Report, second by Council Member Bargar. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
The City Council discussed the 2009 Street Repair list and decided to bid all work listed except for West Sixth Street and widening First Street.
By general consensus the Council approved City Clerk Ball to attend Clerk School, July 13 17, 2009.
The City Council requested a letter be sent to the BCIG School Board to advocate keeping the elementary school open in Ida Grove.
Motion by Council Member Fineran to adjourn, second by Council Member Cates. On a unanimous vote motion carried.
