The Battle Creek-Ida Grove public schools offers a progressive learning atmosphere, with an excellent faculty and a strong emphasis on educational technology. Through the school, Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City offers programs in auto mechanics, carpentry/construction, health occupations and manufacturing technology.

Another incredible strength of the BCIG school district and the community of Ida Grove is the BCIG Citizens' Scholarship Foundation. This program exists purely through the continued commitment of the community to helping all BCIG High School graduates receive college scholarships to help them achieve everything they are capable of in higher education. Every student who applies for a BCIG Citizens' Scholarship will be a recipient.

The Battle Creek-Ida Grove Community School district is home to approximately 700 students. The high school and elementary buildings are located in Ida Grove, and the middle school is seven miles west in Battle Creek.


Battle Creek-Ida Grove High School

The BCIG High School is preparing students for the next step in their lives. A strong program helps students reach their goals, whether they plan to pursue post secondary education or directly move into the workforce and society. There are approximately 260 students enrolled, and the average class size is 65.

Activities include: band, baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, track, cheerleading, choir, drama, drill team, football, mock trial, National Honor Society, Quiz bowl, softball, speech, student council, high school candids, Teens Against Tobacco Use (TATU), visual studies, volleyball and wrestling.



Battle Creek-Ida Grove Middle School

The fifth through eighth grade attend the BCIG Middle School in Battle Creek. There are approximately 250 students at the facility, and the average class size is 62.

Activities include: music, basketball, cross country, football, student council, track and volleyball.



Battle Creek-Ida Grove Elementary School

Kindergarten through fourth grade are at the BCIG Elementary building in Ida Grove. There are approximately 228 students in the elementary, with an average class size of 45. The Alternative Kindergarten class is housed in the Early Childhood Center.
